Ethel Eagle

January 12, 1963 — February 11, 2022

Kahoka

Ethel Elaine Eagle, 59, of Kahoka, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at WB Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, in Burlington, Iowa.

She was born in Keokuk, Iowa to Stanley and Twila Horter on January 12, 1963. After high school, Ethel attended college classes and worked for a time at a factory job. Ethel married her husband of 31 years, Kevin Eagle on December 22, 1990, at their home in Kahoka.

Together they shared two daughters, Raven Eagle and Bethany Eagle, and Ethel became a devoted mom and full-time homemaker.

Ethel was a devoted Christian woman, who lived her life with prayer and devotion to God. That same dedication would manifest itself in her creative endeavors as she could crochet beautiful Afghan blankets that Kevin would lay claim to because they were just “so nice and comfortable.”  She was a comfort to many people and was known as “Mom” or “Grandma” to almost everyone who knew her. An avid coffee drinker, Ethel was always a shoulder for others; she took on the worries and concerns of those she cared for with her empathetic listening ear and well met advice. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ethel is survived by her loving husband, Kevin, and her daughters, Raven, of St. Louis, Missouri and Bethany, of Kahoka; grandchildren; Makia Shipp, Tatyana Spight, and Sophia Spight, as well as her “handpicked” honorary grandchildren; Mariah Spight, Londyn Merklin, and Ashtyn Lewis; brothers Charles (LuJean) Horter, of Kahoka, James, (Tina Bright), Horter of Coin, Iowa, and Paul (Vicki) Horter of Wayland.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Douglas Horter.

A graveside service for Ethel was held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 19th at Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials were made out to Kevin Eagle.
