CODY A. FAULKNER

Cody A. Faulkner, age 12, of Kahoka, MO, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the University Hospital Cancer Ward in Iowa City, IA, from complications of cancer and a rare genetic disease known as Fragile X.

Cody, a son of Crystal Lynn Faulkner, was born April 8, 1995, at Columbia, MO, and from day one was fighting for his life. He was born with perrie robin (small chin) and cleft pallet and was inserted with a trach. It was removed at the age of two. At the age of 5, he was treated for cancer in his right ear and radiation caused burn damage and he was forced to have another trach. During that time it was discovered that he had fragile x. In 2002, he finished treatment and for the next five years was believed to be cancer free. Two weeks ago he was treated for what was believed to be the flu. He was scheduled for his cancer check up and several tumors were discovered in Iowa City. It was a fast growing cancer and chemo was not going to help. God knew it was time for him to leave this world and not to suffer anymore.

Survivors include his mother, Crystal, of Kahoka; grandmother, Nellie Faulkner, also of Kahoka; two brothers, Christopher D. Faulkner and Shawn D. Faulkner, both of Kahoka; aunts, Sharrie Faulkner of Kahoka, Bonnie Ransdell of Danville, IA, and Dora Hunsaker of Kahoka; cousins: Mandy Ransdell, Henry Faulkner, and Joseph, Sam and Jess Stineman; as well as relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Henry Lee Faulkner; two brothers, Luis Roberto Perez and a stillborn infant, Jose Luis Perez; also, an uncle, William Henry Faulkner.

Cody was a student at Blackhawk Elementary. His teacher was Kelly Campbell and her aides, Kim Tripp and Kathy Harrison. His favorite color was blue and he liked to watch Blues Clues. He was a fan of Tom and Jerry cartoons and Disney movies, particularly Toy Story, Lion King, Aladdin and Tarzan. He also loved the movie Angels in the Outfield. His favorite games were patty cake and ring around the rosy.

He was blessed to have so many wonderful people who touched his life through the

years - his teacher, Kelly and her aides, Kim and Kathy; his high school friend through the mentor program, Carrington Daniel, his bus driver, John McDaniel, and others who helped him throughout his life. Thank you to all who helped with Cody and may each one of you have good memories of times spent with him.
