Zelma Mae Lorigan, age 91, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, February 28, 2005 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

She was born April 8, 1913 at Ashton, MO, a daughter of Palmer D. and Lily Myrtle Davidson Kerr.

She and John M. Lorigan were united in marriage on August 3, 1933 in Fort Madison,IA. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1974.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Guy Spence and his wife, Doris, of Kahoka, MO; sister-in-law, Lila Kerr of Cleburne, TX; six grandchildren: Kevin Spence and Daniella Jones of Hamilton, IL, Karma and Brian Hillyer of Kahoka, MO, Kris Spence and his wife, Karn Erlandson of Cincinnati, OH, Kay and Brad Sprague of Kahoka, MO, Kathy and Mark Courtois of St. James, MO, and Kraig and Marie Spence of Columbia, MO; eight great grandchildren: Tiffany and Trevor Finch of LaHarpe, IL, Bailee Brooks, Shannon Hillyer, and Addison and Brynn Sprague, all of Kahoka, MO, Seth and Alexis Courtois of St. James, MO, and Helen Spence of Cincinnati, OH; one great-great granddaughter, Madilyn Finch of LaHarpe, IL; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Rex Milton Lorigan; a daughter, Betty Jo Spence; three brothers, George I., Clesson, and Charles R. Kerr; and a twin sister, Zella F. Lorigan.

Zelma was an active member of the Anson Community Church as long as her health permitted and of the Anson Ladies' Aid. She graduated from Fort Madison High School and in the early 1950's had been City Clerk of Kahoka. In 1962, she and John moved to their farm north of Kahoka where she resided until entering the nursing home this past year. She was very proud of their farm and devoted to her family.

Funeral services are Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Anson Community Church with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Anson Church.
