Wilma L. St. Clair

Wilma L. St. Clair, age 86, of Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, MO following a fall the preceding day.

Wilma was born July 23, 1929 in Wyaconda, MO, a daughter of Roscoe and Merle Bourgeois Colvin.

She graduated from Wyaconda High School and received a Teacher's Certificate from Kirksville State Teacher's College. Prior to her marriage she taught at Boston and Fairview rural schools near Williamstown.

On November 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to David E. St. Clair in rural Williamstown by the Rev. Ivan Kull. Dave preceded her in death on November 13, 2015.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris St. Clair-Anderson of Nixa, MO and Jeannette (Gary) Roberts of Burlington, IA; five grandchildren: Renee Anderson of Ozark, MO, Megan (Allan) Kleinkopf of Burlington, IA, Dallas E. (Adrienne) St. Clair of Granger, IA, Elizabeth (Justin) Long of Burlington, IA and Betsy (Allen) DeMois of Holts Summit, MO; six great grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Becky) Colvin of Wyaconda, MO; two sisters, Veva Kearns of Canton, MO and Margaret (Kenny) Clark of Quincy, IL; sister-in-law, Virginia St. Clair of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Loyd and Ruth Barber St. Clair; her husband; one son, Darrell E. St. Clair on February 12, 2012; and a sister, Louise Venghous.

Following her marriage to Dave in 1950, Wilma was a homemaker and help mate the rest of her life. She loved cooking, cleaning and sharing special meals and snacks with her family as well as caring for her beautiful flowers and watching the cardinals outside her window. Special to her grandchildren were coffee breaks with pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cookies. Wilma was 14 when she was saved and baptized during vacation Bible School at New Woodville. Her faith was the only thing more important than her family.

Wilma was a past member of the Clark County Historical Society and a 50 year member of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors. As a member of the Wyaconda Red Hatters, she enjoyed the weekly fellowship with her friends there.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Frank Whitney officiating assisted by Pastor Dean Tomlinson. Burial followed at the New Woodville Cemetery south of Wyaconda. special music selections included "In The Garden" and "Stroll Over Heaven" by Alan Jackson and "How Great Thou Art" by Renee Anderson. Pallbearers were: Neil Brown, Dennis Briscoe, Dallas St. Clair, Tim St. Clair, Mike St. Clair, and Randy Justice. Honorary pallbearers were: Lacey St. Clair, Sandy Kleine, Jim Lorigan, Lori Lorigan, Marc Colvin, Greg Colvin, George Steele, Lynn St. Clair and the Wyaconda Red Hatters.

Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home after 10 am. Sunday with family receiving friends from 4-7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the New Woodville Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
