William A. Shaffer

William “Bill” Allen Shaffer, 68, of Alexandria, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Bill was born on April 15, 1957, in Keokuk, Iowa, to James E Shaffer and Maxine M Beard Shaffer. He was united in marriage to Debbra Sue (Durham) Shaffer on August 20, 2005, in Camdenton, MO, and she survives.

Bill also known as “Chisel” attended Clark County High School. Before graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18. In his younger years he worked for NASA while in Florida and he also went to Auctioneer School in Sioux City, IA. In his later years he was the Manager for over 10 years for Billups Muffler Center in Keokuk, Iowa, he appreciated the friendships he made over the years of working there. Chisel was known for his love of NASCAR racing. He was on the racing circuit with his car 2r at Burlington, IA, Donnellson IA and Memphis, MO and looked forward seeing the other drivers and visiting about their cars. He liked to fish for relaxation and was a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins and the St Louis Cardinals. Bill was a cancer survivor for over 21 years, never complained and stayed strong through it all.

Bill is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Debbra, his son William “Billy” Shaffer of Burlington, IA, a daughter Pam Stevens of Alabama, stepdaughters Terri Brown of St Louis, MO, Mandy Brown and Christina Brown both of Burlington, IA, 9 grandchildren, brothers Jeff (Lynn) Shaffer of Alexandria, MO, Timothy Shaffer of Kahoka, MO, Todd (Brenda) Worrell of Kahoka, MO, Mike Shaffer of Gorin, MO, 4 sisters Lois (Randy) Burgess of TX, Debbie (Richard) Schoene of Swischer, IA, Sandy (John) Parrish of Cedar, IA, Ciss (Mike) Philips of FL, his faithful 4-legged companion Bella, nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his dad, his grandparents and a brother Tom Shaffer.

Funeral Services with military Rites for Bill Shaffer will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 am at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Kahoka, MO. Pastor Shelby Whitney will officiate. Burial at the Frazee Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be held at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
