WILLIAM ROBERT HOUCK

William Robert Houck, age 58, of Des Moines, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from complications of pneumonia.

Will was born on November 16, 1956 to Edwin and Billie Herbster Houck in Des
Moines, IA.

On October 14, 2006 he was united in marriage to Lora Washburn Thayer in Des Moines.

Will is survived by his loving wife, Lora; daughters, Kalee Jacoby and Elaine Thayer; a brother, Ed Houck, Jr., all of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Violena, Jonah and Renae - who will miss their "Papa" greatly; mother-in-law, Donna Washburn; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Dawn and Drew Kirchner, Tracy Washburn, and Avard Lee Washburn, all of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jennifer Houck.

Will graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975 and later obtained his Master's degree from Drake University.

He was a rehabilitation counselor for his company, "Perfect Solution". He was a member of Fort Des Moines United Methodist. In his spare time he loved to read, spend time on his computer and with his family.

Funeral services were held on January 8, 2015 at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines.

A graveside Memorial Service was held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Kahoka Cemetery with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating.

Following services, family and friends were invited to a luncheon at Reed's in Wayland, MO.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Will's family with checks made payable to Lora Houck.

Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka is in charge of local arrangements.
