Wesley Dale Knupp, 96 of Wyaconda, Missouri, passed away at 8:35 pm on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, Missouri.
Wesley was born on March 29, 1929, in Downing, Missouri, to Paul J and Iris (Kelso) Knupp. He was united in marriage to Helen (Sprague) Knupp on May 11, 1951, in Kahoka, Missouri and she survives. Wesley attended Swanson School and later received his GED at the age of 65 so he could become the Clark County Deputy Sheriff. Wes grew up in Downing, MO. In 1949 he moved to Wyaconda, MO, to farm with his father. In October 1951 he was drafted into the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War.
After honorable discharge from the Marines, he returned to Wyaconda to continue farming and work at Sheller Globe. In 1967 Wes and Helen purchased the Roberts Drug Store and named it Knupp’s Sundries. In 1977 Wes and Helen opened the Do Drop Inn and was known for their Saturday night fish fries. Wesley dug graves with a hand spade for many local cemeteries. He also mowed cemeteries for over 50 years and stopped mowing cemeteries at the age of 90. Wesley was a member of the Wyaconda Christian church. One of the highlights of Wes was the Honor Flight in 2011 a trip he would never forget. Wesley was a simple man, that loved his family as much as they loved him. He truly will be missed as he touched many lives throughout his life.
Wesley is survived by his wife Helen of 74 years, a son Ed Knupp of Wyaconda, MO, his daughters Crystal (Brad) Bliven of Quincy, IL, Lori (Dan) Doyle of Wyaconda, MO, a sister-in-law Doris Knupp of FL, 9 grandchildren: Jason (Marcia) Knupp, Gene (Alexandra) Knupp, Mindy Knupp, Kurtis (Kelley) McCabe, Kayla (Damon) Marquis, Cori Seth, Colbi (Katie) Seth, Quinton (Kelsey) Seth, Caleb Doyle, 16 great grandchildren and other relatives, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Clifford E. Knupp, daughter Rebecca Knupp in infancy, his sister Mary Smith, brothers David and Joe Knupp, his in-laws LaVerne and Lorene Spraque, sisters and brother-in-law: Lola Knupp, Dorothy (Mert) McCarty, Norma (Max) Fountain, Frank Smith, Junior Rogers, and Bud Sprague.
Funeral Services for Wesley Knupp will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Kahoka, MO with burial and full Military Rites at the Wyaconda Cemetery, Wyaconda, Missouri. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate. A visitation with family present will be held at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm.
