WALTER E. GRANDSTAFF

Walter Elihue Grandstaff, age 88, of Kahoka, MO, formerly of Hannibal, died early Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

He was born October 15, 1921, at Regan, MO, a son of Frank and Ella Sallisbury Grandstaff.

He married Irene Moore and they were the parents of two daughters, Joyce and Janice.

In a later marriage a daughter, Teija, was born.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Blackmore of Kahoka, MO and Janice Fisher of Colleyville, TX; two grandchildren, Rodney Harvey and his wife, Joni, of Luray, MO and Serena Greer; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Everett; and daughter, Teija.

Walter was a gunner in the Navy during World War II. He had been a salesman and later a grocery manager for Kroegers. He flew planes and owned his own crop dusting service at one time. Walter was a man of few words and recently it was discovered that he put his thoughts into writing poems. He had moved to Missouri in 2003 because of his failing health and spent time with family in Hannibal and Kahoka.

At Mr. Grandstaff's request, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials in his memory are suggested to the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
