Thomas E. McAndrew, age 69, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, December 19, 2003 at his home.

He was born September 23, 1934 in Keokuk, IA, a son of John L. and Rosa G. Long McAndrew.

On September 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Frances T. Hayden at St. Peter's

Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Kahoka, MO; two sons, Thomas E. McAndrew, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Ottumwa, IA, and Steve McAndrew of Kirksville, MO; three daughters, Chris Curtis of Paris, MO, Cathy Randolph and her husband, Gary, of Canton, MO, and Heidi Schutte and her husband, Robert, of Kahoka, MO; four grandchildren: Taylor and

Grant Curtis of Paris, MO, and Megan and Aury Randolph of Canton, MO; five step grand-children: Shiloh Schmid of Burlington, IA, Shannon Schmid of St. Joseph, MO,Rob Schutte and his wife, Melissa, of Wayland, MO, Lindsay Schutte of Iowa City, IA, and Luke Schutte of Kahoka, MO; one brother, John L. "Jack" McAndrew of Horseshoe Bay, TX; one sister, Rose Ann Glazer and her husband, Martin, of Chesterfield, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William and Janice Hayden of Alexandria, MO, Melvin and Bonnie Hayden of Keokuk, IA, Alice Howard of Keokuk, IA, Jane Ann and Dean Lawson of Joliet, IL, Percy "Pooch" Ames of Keokuk, IA, and Joe McGhghy of Argyle, IA; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laurie; and a brother, Richard "Dick" McAndrew.

Tom graduated from Kahoka High School in 1954. He was employed at the Iowa Ordinance Plant until 1966 and from 1966-1969 ran McAndrew Brothers Implement in Kahoka with his brothers. He also ran Crop Builders Plus and during that time worked a brief period at Fruehauf in Fort Madison as a welder until he and Frances opened McAndrew Package Liquor in Kahoka which they operated until 1991. For the next three years he drove a school bus for the Clark Co. R-1 School district until his health made it necessary for him to retire. He had been a member of the Iowa National Guard for 13 years and was a 1st Lieutenant. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka.

Tom's family was his hobby and gave him his most enjoyment in life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and babysitting for them. He was devoted, caring, honest and patient. He always had a listening ear and a sense of humor which carried him and Frances through the tough times in their lives . He enjoyed clowning around, attending auctions, and growing and working in flowers. He loved music, whether playing guitar with family or dancing with Frances.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka with Rev. Roland Carbone officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Monday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka. A Scripture

Service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by family receiving

friends until 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Prader Willi Syndrome.
