SUSAN KAY FRAZEE

Susan K. Frazee, age 68, of Wayland, MO, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home.

Sue was born May 2, 1949 in Hannibal, MO a daughter of Harold and Ruby Rosenkoetter Gosney.

She was married to Kim Frazee in 1969 and they were the parents of Vanessa and Adam.

Survivors include her children, Vanessa (Curt) Triplett of Rutledge, MO and Adam (Jennifer) Frazee of Kahoka, MO; four grandchildren: Nathan and Emily Frazee and Anna and Beau Triplett; one brother, Joe (Roberta) Gosney of MO; one sister, Becky Mentesti of GA; special friends, Beverly Laffoon and Kathy Buschling, both of Wayland; as well as other relatives.

Sue graduated from Monroe City High School and received an associates degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College.

The family moved to Wayland when Vanessa was three. Sue felt very blessed to be able to stay home and raise her children. When they entered school she went to work at Running Fox Elementary first as a teacher’s aid and then as secretary.

Sue moved to Keokuk and worked for the Daily Gate City Newspaper for 10 years as Life Style Editor. During that time she worked closely with the Keokuk Police Department and wrote a column, "Over Coffee". She received several awards in journalism and photography. Later, she went to work for Kinseth Hospitality Company as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Holiday Inn Express in Keokuk and Dubuque. In 2005, she was hired as a receptionist for Carthage Veterinary Services. In her position she met a lot of people and touched many lives. Her company experienced many special touches that Sue brought to the job with her many goodies, cards and gifts, her catering expertise and as editor of their monthly newsletter. She retired in December of 2017.

Her memberships included the Wayland United Methodist Church, Keokuk Lion’s Club (former president), and Keokuk Chamber Ambassador.

Sue enjoyed journaling, "Gone With the Wind", and had a special "knack" for decorating. Every home she ever lived in looked like it belonged in a magazine. She dearly loved her grandkids and making them her special "no bake" cookies. They looked forward each year to receiving an ornament for their trees which she handpicked for each of them.

Memorial services were held Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Wayland United Methodist Church with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery, Hunnewell, MO.
