Russell O. Branson, age 66, of Anson, MO (Farmington, IA) died unexpectedly on

Thursday, November 17, 2016 at his home.

Russell was born July 14, 1950 in Keokuk, IA, a son of Russell O. and Velma Irvin Branson.

He married Glenda "Kandi" Johnson on October 12, 1969 at the Melrose Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kandi; one daughter, Lori Branson (Douglas) Twyman of Henderson, NV; three grandchildren: Rowan, Erick, and Joslyn Twyman; mother-in-law, Margueriette Johnson of Donnellson, IA; special friend, Amy Stewart of Luray, MO, who was like a daughter to him and her children Jakobie, Hannah, Kyra, Keegan, Graydon, Larkyn Robert, Eleena and Kahlee Justice and Raylee Stewart-Muff; one brother, Ernest (Deloris) Branson of Kahoka, MO; five sisters: Ellen Crandall of Lewistown, MO, Charlotte "Susan" (Carl) Davis of St. Patrick, MO, Shirley (Jim) McCoy of Kahoka, MO, Nancy (Gary) Brummer of Shelbyville, MO and Carol (Craig) Picton of Keokuk, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Todd Johnson of Keokuk, IA, Cheryl (Tom) Baker of Fort Madison, IA, Donna (John) Childress of Murray, KY and Gerold "Butch" Woodley and Joyce (Rodney) Young, all of Donnellson, IA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Glen Johnson and Mona Johnson; a son, Robert Branson; a brother in infancy; a niece, Alice Nelson; two brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

Russell attended Revere School. He worked for Midwest Carbide in Keokuk until it closed and then retired from Daw Repair, a job which he dearly loved. He was a member of the Anson Community Church.

Russell loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing with his buddy, Aaron Paul, and deer hunting with his granddaughter, Rowan, and "grandson", Jakobie Justice. Russell and Kandi both came from large families and he was a true "family" man. He loved family gatherings at the farm, spending time with all of them and going to see his grandchildren. He and Kandi had started doing some traveling in the past several years which they really enjoyed.

Graveside services were held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Anson Cemetery with Pastor Josh DeJong officiating. Honorary pallbearers were: Erick Twyman, Rowan Twyman, Joslyn Twyman, Jakobie Justice, Russell Jinkens and Carl Davis, Jr. Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Anson Cemetery.
