Ruby Maxine (Sleight) Hough, 98, of Kahoka, Missouri went home to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Clark County Nursing Home, in Kahoka, Missouri.
Ruby was born on June 15, 1927, in Keokuk Iowa, the daughter of Florence Skinner Sleight and William Sleight.
She married Harold Hough Sr. on July 22, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa and he preceded her in death March 12, 2011. Ruby survives by her children, Harold (Candy) Hough Jr. of Keokuk, IA., Durinda Bogguss of Ewing, MO., Linda (Keith) Wilson of Kahoka, MO., Joyce (Larry) Young, of Kahoka, MO., Mickey (Paul) Ayer of Wyaconda, MO., Richard (Linda) Hough of Donna, TX., Becky DeBrouse of Indianola, IA. She had 15 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, a special friend and like a sister of over 60 years Margaret Crabtree, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her in-laws Otis and Mary Ellen (Haskins) Hough, a son Michael Hough, her sister Wyona West, brothers George Cale and Kenneth Cale.
Ruby worked at several jobs in Keokuk before moving to Kahoka with her husband and family to pastor a church Trinity Faith Chapel. She enjoyed going to church camps and religious conventions, in several areas. After pastoring the church in Kahoka for ten plus years, with her husband, they moved to Texas to do missionary work in Mexico. Ruby was a compassionate woman who learned to appreciate hard work and inner strength at an early age. Ruby lived a life that saw many changes in the world with a strong responsibility to her home, caring for her family and her deep faith to God. She devoted her life to passing these values on to her family.
Graveside services for Ruby Hough will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa. Granddaughter Pastor Kim McNamar to officiate. Visitation with family present will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Kahoka, Missouri.
