R. Ross Dochterman
Roland Ross Dochterman, age 82, of Kahoka, MO, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, following a short illness.
He was born April 11, 1923 in Clark County, MO, near Bethlehem, a son of Harry Morris and Maude Harness Dochterman.
He and Dorothy Leeper were united in marriage on October 14, 1945 at her parent's home near Monticello, MO. In two more weeks they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Kahoka, MO; two sons, Keith L. Dochterman and his wife, Becky, of Orangeburg, SC, and David L. Dochterman and his wife, Pam, of Wayland, MO; three grandchildren: Cindy Layton and her fiancé, Gary Burke, of Lyman, SC, Doug and Lori Dochterman of Union, SC, and Miranda Dochterman of Argyle, IA; four step grandchildren: Amanda and Len Longe of Pacolet, SC, Jason Hish of Spartanburg, SC, Joshua and Beth Damon of Keokuk, IA, and Deana and Scott Haskins of St. Francisville, MO; two great grandchildren, Christen and Cole Layton; five step great grandchildren: Joshua Damon, Jr., and Bobbie Ann, Amy Sue, Scott David, and Ben Haskins; two sisters, Lois Wilson and her husband, Clifford, of Wyaconda, MO, and Wilma Goldsberry of Keokuk, IA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda McLeland and her husband, Gene, of Macon, MO, Carolyn Ferguson and her husband, Larry, of Ewing, MO,and Richard Kraus of Memphis, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Robert; and three sisters, Cleta Kraus, Letha Brown, and Geneva Bange.
Ross was a 1941 graduate of Luray High School. He had been a farmer all of his life in Clark County and following his retirement in 1990 worked with several area farmers, the past several years for Dean Hunziker. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church at Wayland. He truly loved the Lord and the land, and when not farming, enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his large garden.
Funeral services are Friday, September 30, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church in Wayland, MO with Pastor Dan Steinbeck and Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 1 p.m. on Thursday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the Southern Baptist Fellowship.
