ROBERTA "JOAN" PETERS

Roberta Joan Peters, age 76, of Alexandria, MO, died peacefully,Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her home.

Joan was born August 13, 1935 at Alexandria, MO, a daughter of Walter "Buss" and Elizabeth Wood Kleinert.

On December 3, 1966, she was united in marriage to Harold Peters in Canton. She passed away on their 45th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Alexandria; one son, Brad Peters and his wife, Sara, of Hudson, IL; three grandsons, Joey, Zach and Sean Peters; three step-children and their families: Vick Peters of Columbia, MO, Virgil Peters and his wife, Linda, of Quincy, IL, and Valerie Schonarth and her husband, John, of Quincy, IL;one brother, John Kleinert and his wife, Rhonda, of Revere, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gerald and Ann Peters of Quincy, IL, Shirley and Dennis Sheridan of Ewing, MO, Karen Goings of Trenton, IL and Susan and Barry Juiare of Minneapolis, MN; as well as nieces and nephews including John Kleinert, who spent alot of time in the home; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George "Bud" Kleinert; and a step-son, Tim Peters.

Joan graduated from Revere High School and later received an Associates Degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She had served as City Clerk of Alexandria as long as her health permitted. For over 60 years, she was a member of the Alexandria Baptist Church and her faith was a very important part of her life.

At her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Randy Ewart officiating. Inurnment was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Foundation, or Northeast Missouri Hospice.
