Rebecca May Buschling, 92, of Wayland, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, Sunday, September 7, 2025.
She was born April 5, 1933, in St Francisville, MO, to Wilbur and Zaida (Carter) Toops. Becky graduated from Wayland High School in May of 1950. Two months later, on July 22nd, she married the love of her life, George Buschling. Together they built a wonderful life centered around their family. Becky was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Whether it was loading the kids up in the camper for an impromptu trip, taking off to Florida for the winter, or just heading down the road to attend services at Wayland United Methodist Church, Becky found her greatest joy wherever her family was. She cherished simple pleasures–spending time on her porch tending to her flowers and feeding the birds, browsing antique stores to add to her teacup collection and attending her church’s quilting club with her life-long best friend, Lola Eder.
Becky was never happier than when she was surrounded by those she loved. She knew the best way to bring everyone together was with a good home cooked meal. Whether it was taking food to George out in the field, one of her famous Sunday dinners, or just sitting down for a cup of coffee and a hand of cards, Becky always had a seat for everyone at her table. Her love, generosity, and quiet strength will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughters Janice Johnson of Wayland, MO, Tamara (John) Oilar of Kahoka, MO, her daughters-in-law Kathy Buschling of Wayland, MO, Cheryl Buschling of Kahoka, MO, 9 grandchildren Brock (Shelby) Buschling, Nikolas Buschling, Paul (Massy) Buschling, Christopher (Rebecca) Buschling, Paige (Bryan) Schillig, Shane McWilliams, Kristen McWilliams, Kayla (James) Prewitt, Tessa (Colton) Oilar, 18 Great grandchildren, 4 Great Great grandchildren, her sisters Rose (Ralph) Buschling of Washington, MO, Ida (Edward) Nelson of Keokuk, IA, sister-in-law Emma Jean Riney, other relatives and friends.
