Raylene Guy

October 13, 1946 — November 23, 2021

Wayland

Raylene Esther (Hafstrom) Guy, age 75 of Wayland, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at her daughter home.

Raylene was born October 13, 1946, in Gary, IN, the daughter of Raymond and Esther Hafstrom. She graduated from Hammond Tech in Hammond, IN. She married Robert “Bob” Guy on December 31, 1970.

“Miss Raylene” retired from the Kahoka Head Start Center after working there for fifteen plus years, she never left without a smile on her face as each was cared for like her own. She and Bob loved traveling, they had been everywhere from the Caribbean to Alaska and Hawaii to Mexico. She took her last trip with her husband of 50 years last December to Palmview, TX. She never met a stranger, constantly helping and taking care of everyone’s needs was her way of thriving. Raylene loved cooking and baking, though she never had enough time in the day to make sure her own meals were warm. You knew going to Raylene and Bobs that you wouldn’t find even the slightest bit of dust on an end table. Extra special to her was her grandchildren Connor and Hannah, she never missed a birthday party, a school program, or sporting event. Nanny Ray was there for every moment of their lives. She loved them, and they love her dearly. The family extends a special thank you to EveryStep Hospice for their constant love and support as well as the Memory Care Unit at Aspire in Donnellson, IA.

Left to tell her stories and hold her memories close are her husband Robert, her son, Paxton (Meg Gorham) Guy of Carbondale, IL, her daughter, Melissa (Larry Case) Smith of Argyle, IA, and also two grandchildren; Connor (Sarah) Smith of Waukee, IA, and Hannah (Haley Snow) Smith of Westminster, CO. Raylene was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her parents.

A celebration of life was held December 4, 2021, at the Wilson and Triplett Funeral Home from 11A.M. until 1 P.M. Memorials in Raylene’s name were suggested to the Kahoka Head Start.
