Norman Ewart

Norman M. Ewart, 90, of Kahoka, Missouri passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Country Aire Retirement Center in Lewistown, Missouri.

He was born December 18, 1932, in Stockport, Iowa, the son of the late William Ewart & Leona (McKee) Ewart.  Later he joined Elsie (Haage) Ewart in marriage on June 11, 1955, at the Wayland Methodist Church.  She survives.

Norman was a self-employed welder for many years until his retirement.  He could fix almost anything.  In his spare time, he was an avid hunter. He enjoyed raising & training mules and even made his own long bows.  He had the opportunity to help start the Lewis & Clark County Mule Festival, now known as the Clark County Mule Festival.  On his hunting ventures he’d load up his mules to head out with friends and they traveled all over the United States and even into Canada. 

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Elsie, Norman is survived by a son; Jerald Ewart and companion Cindy Martin of Winchester, Missouri, Daughter; Linda (Dennis) Shoup of Kahoka, Missouri, nine grandchildren; Gerret (Christi) Ewart, Todd (Ciarra) Edmondson, Amanda Miller, Debbie (Mike Dove) Ewart, Nicole (Adam) Carter, Brandy Smith, Emily Stewart, Ellen Stewart and Deanna (Jordan) Fulk, 16 great grandchildren, three brothers; Leon Ewart, Dan Ewart and David Ewart and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Norman was preceded in death by two sons; Eldon & Duane Ewart, daughter; Brenda Slocum, grandson; Chad Edmondson, two brothers; Lavern and Joseph Albert Ewart and his sister; Virginia Brammer.

A memorial graveside service honoring Norman’s life will be conducted at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Frazee Cemetery in Wayland, Missouri.  Those planning on attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery.  Travis Mathes will officiate.  Memorial contributions in memory of Norman are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri.  Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home have been entrusted in the care and arrangements.  You are invited to share your memories of Norman and leave a condolence at www.wilsontriplett.com
