Norma G. Brewer, age 88, of Kahoka, MO, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, IA.

Norma was born March 12, 1924 in Wyaconda, MO, the only child of James B. and Lolita Wolfmeyer Collins.

Norma graduated from Revere High School in 1942 and received additional education prior to becoming a teacher in rural Clark Co. Schools.

On February 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Romaine Brewer in Mineral Wells, TX, where he was stationed in the Army. Romaine preceded her in death on March 11, 1990.

Survivors include one son, Joe (Joann) Brewer of Kahoka, MO; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Brewer of Garner, NC; four grandchildren: Tiffany Lapsley of Kahoka, MO; Adam (Mandy) Brewer of Canton, MO, Laura (Mrs. Matt) Sweet of Garner, NC and Darren (Liz) Brewer of Corpus Christy, TX; six great-grandchildren: Kacie and Caleb Lapsley, Brooke and Brenna Brewer, Evan Brewer and Kendall Hathaway; two step-great grandchildren, Cory and Nathan Sweet; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard L. and Donna Brewer, Duane E. and Barbara Brewer and Opal and Carroll Nixon, all of Kahoka, MO; also nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, James, in 2007.

Most of Norma's life was spent as a homemaker, taking great delight from caring for her family. After her children were grown, Norma went to work for Dr. John Beckert, retiring from his medical clinic.

Norma was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka. She loved learning more about Jesus and sharing his love, attending many revivals and bible studies, one which met in her home each week. She loved her time spent sharing the gospels with fellow believers. She also loved to quilt and be inspired by music. Her children and grandchildren gave her unending joy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka with Pastor Glen Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka during regular hours on Thursday and Friday with family receiving friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Calvary Hill Girls Home.
