Neva Delphene Yates, age 79, of Kahoka, MO, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the emergency room of Scotland Co. Memorial Hospital in Mempis, MO.

She was born April 29, 1934 in Greentop, MO, a daughter of Steven and Irene Jones Butler.

She married James Elmer Yates on August 12, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Beverly) Yates of Luray, MO and Curtis Yates of Kahoka, MO; seven grandchildren: Tracy (Mrs. Donnie) Burks of Kahoka, MO, Scott (Lauren) Yates of Springfield, IL, Toni (Mrs. Jason) Middleton of Memphis, MO, Breckan Yates (Brandy Boecker) of Kahoka, MO, Haley (Mrs. Cody) Nelsen of Bethany, MO, Kristy Yates of Cape Girardeau, MO and Kelcey Yates (Daniel Shannon) of Kahoka, MO; five great-grandchildren:
Heidi Burks, Isaac Yates, Kendra and Kennedy Middleton, and Kayden Allsup; two brothers, Carroll Roger (Jeannette) Butler of Keokuk, IA and Norman Butler of Medill, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill (Melba) Yates of Luray, MO, Gene (Linda) Yates of Revere, MO, Sandra (Mrs. Donnie) Wagers of Kahoka, MO, Pete (Janice) Yates of Revere, MO, and Suzie (Mrs. Vernon) Hopp of Luray, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Jim Yates; siblings, John Butler, Joyce McColm, and Bobby Butler; and brother-in-law, Bobby Yates.

Delphene graduated from Luray High School. She was employed most of her life at Henniges in Keokuk, retiring when it was Schlegel.

She was a member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship in Wayland. She liked to crochet and read. She enjoyed visits from friends and extended family and loved seeing her kids and grandkids.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Dan Steinbeck officiating. Burial was in the Combs Cemetery at Luray.


Memorials were suggested to Southern Baptist Fellowship Church at Wayland.
