Merle D. Davis, 80, of Kahoka, passed away at 6:20 am on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
He was born on June 10, 1942, in Salem, Iowa the son of the late Andrew & Floy (Esthers) Davis.
Merle worked for Fruehauf Steel Castings in Keokuk, Iowa for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed yardwork and loved to visit scrapyards and junkyards. Merle enjoyed visiting with his Amish friends and giving them lifts around town when needed. He loved people in general and liked to make others smile. Merle loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his life partner; Osa Clay of Medill, a stepson; Donnie Clay of Kahoka, a stepdaughter; Lois Clay of Kahoka, several grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends and by a special friend; Mira Maggard of Kahoka.
Besides his parents, Merle was preceded in death by a stepson; Tommy Clay, a stepdaughter; Tammy Clay, two brothers; Bill & George Davis and by a sister; Marilyn Davis.
In accordance with Merle’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and public services will not be held. The Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions in memory of Merle are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
