MAXINE L. GILBERT

Maxine L. Gilbert, age 83, of rural Kahoka, MO, died peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Maxine was born March 29, 1928 at Coop, KY, a daughter of Tolbert and Myrtle L. Coffee Bell.

On November 26, 1945, she was united in marriage to Delbert L. Gilbert.

Survivors include her husband, Delbert, of Kahoka; one son, Delbert L. Gilbert, Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Walworth, WI; two daughters, Angela L. French and her husband, David, of rural Farmington, IA, and Pamela Dochterman and her husband, David, of Wayland, MO; seven grandchildren: David (Tammy) Gilbert of Darien, WI, Christine (Mrs. Rick) Haynes of Lake Geneva, WI, Denise Gilbert of Walworth, WI, Jeff VanMeter and Erick VanMeter, both of Arlington, TX, Joshua (Beth) Damon of Keokuk, IA, and Deana (Mrs. Scott) Haskins of

St. Francisville, MO; twelve great-grandchildren: Chayton, Paige and Kayasia Gilbert, Sierra, Eric and Lucas Haynes, Joshua Damon, Jr., Izaiah Damon, Benjamin (Elisa) Haskins, Bobbie Ann Haskins, Amy Haskins and Scott David Haskins; one great-great grandchild, Arrianna Haskins; one brother, Robert Bell of Seattle, WA; one sister, Joanne Seals of Rockton, IL; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Kildew of AZ and Wanda Lindsey of Idaho; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Glen Bell, Frank Bell, Teresa Justice, Madge Matney and two in infancy.

Maxine attended school in Grundy, VA. Early in her marriage she babysat, and later worked for Dr. Channing and at Places in Kahoka. She was most known as a talented florist.

She loved growing a large garden, flower and vegetable, and just enjoyed being outdoors.

She also had a talent for art and sketched many beautiful drawings.

Maxine was a faithful member of Freedom in Christ Fellowship in Kahoka. Her faith was very important to her and sharing it with others. She opened her home to many through the years, providing assistance and encouragement whenever possible. Her world revolved around her family and her church family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Freedom in Christ Fellowship Church in Kahoka with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Freedom in Christ Fellowship Church, Kahoka.

The staff of Wilson Funeral Home assisted the family in the arrangements.
