Maxine Beard

Maxine Mae Beard, 88, of Kahoka, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Clark County Nursing Home surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 6th, 1937, to Leon and Dolly (Brisby) Beard. She lived life to the fullest and on her own terms—marked by an extraordinary sense of humor, quiet strength, and a resilience like no other. She was a mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her eight children and created a home where everyone felt welcome. 

She is survived by 6 children: Jeff (Lynn) Shaffer of Alexandria, Mo., Debbie (Richard) Schoene of Swisher, IA., Timothy Shaffer of Kahoka, MO., Sandy (John) Parrish West Des Moines IA. Lois (Randy) Burgess of Azle, TX., Todd (Brenda) Worrell of Kahoka, MO., Her niece Carol Gray and her nephew Larry Beard, many grandchildren & great grandchildren, that she loved dearly. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon & Dolly Beard, a brother Edwin Beard, two sons, Tom & Bill Shaffer, her niece Linda Clough and two beautiful granddaughters Jamie & Amy. 

According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services honoring Maxine Beard will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home with Chaplain Mark Wiewel officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Maxine are suggested to Hospice Northeast Missouri. Her family will remember her always with deep gratitude and enduring love.
