MARY JOY McWILLIAMS

Mary Joy McWilliams, age 86, of rural Revere, MO, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at 4:25 p.m. in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL.

Mary Joy was born August 15, 1926, at Keokuk, to William L. and Mary Vestal Peters, and spent most of her life in Keokuk, graduating from Keokuk Senior High School in 1944.

She married Duane A. Bair on October 10, 1948. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1957. She married Richard McWilliams on August 13, 1965. He survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Caryn Sue Bair Weaver and her husband, Steve, of Kahoka and Terry McWilliams of Moores-town, NJ; four grandsons, Gregory Weaver of Columbia, John Weaver and his wife, Cari, of Revere, Jeffrey Weaver and his wife, Britni, of Palmyra and Christian Espindola of Moorestown, NJ; one granddaughter, Lisa Weaver Duncan and her husband, T. J., of St Louis; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Norma McWilliams of West Plains, MO, Marilyn Otte of Kahoka, Celia McWilliams of Revere, Peggy Bair of Camp Point, IL, and Sam Casady of Winona, MN; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane A. Bair; and two brothers, Max and Maurice Peters, who were casualties of World War II.

Mary Joy moved to Clark County from Keokuk in 1971. She had been a secretary for a Keokuk law firm for 19 years. She was a faithful member of the Revere Community Church and the past few years had attended Amazing Grace Bible Church at Kahoka. She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitch needlework and crossword puzzles. She lived her faith and loved spending time with her family.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
