Mary Louise Martin

Mary Louise Martin, 85, of Revere, passed away peacefully at 2:30 pm on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Clark County Nursing Home, with her family by her side.

Mary was born on April 16, 1941, in rural Bentonsport, Iowa to James Ruben and Sadie Olive (Goff) Neal. She graduated from the 8th grade at Sheppard school. After school, she worked on the farm and did seasonal work for Maplecrest Turkey Farms with her sister Lillie. They lived with their Aunt Nellie and Uncle Jack until they got their own apartment. Sometime after that, Mary worked for the Fairfield Glove Factory in Bonaparte, Iowa. Mary was united in marriage to Leslie Morris on June 2, 1962 and to this union 4 children were born, he preceded her in death on January 15, 1972. She then married Rolla Lee Martin on March 17, 1973, at Anson Church and he survives.

In 1972 Mary started working for Sheaffer Pen Company. One of her jobs was in the Pen Point Department where she dipped the nibs into gold for their fountain pens. After putting in 34 years, she retired in 2006. Mary appreciated her job, and the many friendships she made over the years.

Mary loved her cats, and feeding the hummingbirds that would gather at her many feeders. She was well known for her baking especially her famous Cinnamon Rolls, and favorite birthday cake for whoever was having a birthday. Mary was a deer hunter and even shot a 15-point buck. She found joy in her flower gardens and took great pleasure in watching them “grow and flourish”. Mary and Rolla provided a loving home, dedicated to each other. They took great pride in their children, grandchildren, and great grandchild and looked forward to the visits and family gatherings.

Mary is survived by her husband Rolla of 53 years, a son Jim (Donna) Morris of Lawrence, KS, her daughters Barb (Kendall) Christman of Kirksville, MO., Elizabeth (Walter) Hayes of St Louis, MO., Sandra Sawyers of Lebanon, MO., 8 grandchildren, Neal, Hunter, Landon, Kaelinn, Luke, Courtney, Christopher, Joshua, 1 great grandchild Blaine, her sisters Ruth Poole of Wapello, IA, Helen(Richard) Lozano of Fort Madison, IA., Joyce (Bill) Barnes of Thornfield, MO., brother and sisters-in-law Rozella (LeRoy) Kincaid of Fort Madison, IA., Galia Saar of Fort, Madison IA., Gale Martin of Revere, MO., nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, her in-laws Ray and Ruby (Johnson) Martin, son-in-law David Sawyers, sisters Lillie Neal, Alice Coleman, a brother Everett Neal, sister and brothers-in-law Vivian Neal, John Coleman, and Robert Saar.

According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering with family in memory of Mary will be held at the Anson Community Church, 12537 County Road 18, Revere, MO 63465 on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 from 10am to 12pm. Casual attire is requested.
