Margaret N. Murphy, age 89, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Margaret was born February 25, 1924 at Peaksville, MO, a daughter of Leonard and Mary
Galland Johnson.

She married Russell D. "Jack" Murphy on November 14, 1943 in Kahoka, MO.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years; three sons, Jack (Jan) Murphy of Phoenix, AZ, Jim (Rita) Murphy of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mark Murphy of Revere, MO; one daughter, Mary Ann (Mrs. Larry) Reep of Austin, TX; twelve grandchildren: Christina (Mrs. Jeff) Tuckel of Hidden Hills, CA, Cynthia Murphy of Lake Tahoe, NV, Rachel (Mrs. Juan) Flores of Bedford, TX, Christa (Mrs. Shane) Moore of Grapevine, TX, Lesli (Mrs. David) Hill of Waco, TX, Lauren (Mrs. Clint) Christie of Amarillo, TX, Dana (Mrs. Mike) Collins of Austin, TX, Nicole Murphy of Austin, TX, Shari (Mrs. Wyatt) Warschak of Round Rock, TX, Rick (Kristen) Reep of Porter, TX, Wendy Eckman of Wolverine Lake, MI and Jed Jutte of Memphis, MO; sixteen great grandchildren: Tinsley and Aiden Tuckel, Haley Garret, Madison, Andrew and Tori Flores, Ashli and Lincoln Moore, Hannah and Madison Collins, Cathryn Murphy, Whitney Margaret Warschak, Ashley and April Reep and Alexa and Anna Eckman; a brother, David (Mazadene) Johnson of Sierra Vista, AZ, a sister, Catherine Matticks of Granbury,TX; longtime friend who was like a daughter to her, Anna Lou Gallup Jutte of Memphis, MO; her brother's children, Anne (Mrs. Robert) Nehls of Hickory, NC and Susan (Mrs. Robert) Witkowski of Indianapolis, IN; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Johnson.

Margaret graduated from Revere High School. She taught in rural schools for two years prior to her marriage. From 1955 until 1985 she worked in the banking business, retiring from Wells Fargo Financial Network.

Margaret was a member of the Kahoka Christian Church and had received recognition as a 50 year member of both the D.A.R. and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved raising flowers, cooking and entertaining her family and friends. Margaret loved being around people and had a special place in her heart for young people.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.


Memorials were suggested to the Wayland United Methodist Church or the Clark Co. Nursing Home.
