Linda Dinger

May 15, 1935 — September 21, 2024

Limjke (Linda) Hogeboom Dinger, 89, of Winter Haven, FL (formerly of Kahoka, MO), passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 15, 1935, in Sneek, The Netherlands, to Nicolaas Hogeboom and Johanna Wuite Hogeboom. She married Donald Hess Dinger on June 14, 1958, in Wyandotte, MI. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2015.

Linda’s childhood was spent weathering the difficult days of the Nazi occupation during WWII. Despite the tragedies and uncertainty of war, Linda developed an enduring sense of optimism and empathy. This was supported by the resilience of her large family and her devotion to her Christian faith. After the war, Linda finished grade school and went to boarding school with her sister Harmke.

In 1957, she moved to the US to help her older sister, Jenny, with family caregiving. There she met and married Donald Hess Dinger. They moved often because Don’s work as a hospital administrator took them as far away as Saudi Arabia. Although she became a proud American citizen, she never forgot her Dutch heritage and hosted annual St. Nicholas Day celebrations for her children and grandchildren.

Linda is survived by two daughters, Johanna (Sol) Viramontes of Lake Wales, FL and Janet (Michael) Lawlor of Winter Haven, FL, and one son, David (Kathy) Dinger of Keokuk, IA, along with two sisters, Harmke and Hinke, and one brother, Albert, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was Oma to six grandchildren: Sean, Joseph and David Lawlor, and Keegan, Kasey and Korey Schwarz, as well as two great-grandchildren, Lando Lawlor and Sagan Schwarz.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Sip, Marvin and Roel; and two sisters, Lies and Jenny.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Paul Cemetery in Kahoka, MO.    Rev. Dan Moore will officiate. Memorial contributions can be given to St. Paul Cemetery. You are invited to share your memories of Linda and leave a condolence at www.wilsontriplett.com.
