LETA BROOKS

Leta Brooks, age 96, formerly of Wayland, MO, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Leta was born October 9, 1916 in Alexandria, MO, a daughter of Edward and Stella Hopkins Fowler.

She married Farold Brooks on October 16, 1933 at Kahoka. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1991.

Survivors include one son, Edwin (Betty) Brooks of Canton, MO; a daughter, Marolyn (Mrs. Rick) Roberts of Wayland, MO; grandchildren: Bruce Brooks of Lewistown, MO, Brian (Tonya) Brooks of Keokuk, IA, Rob (Mary) Brooks of Alexandria, MO, Suzie (Mrs. J.R.) Brooks-White of Revere, MO, Quentin (Darci) Brooks of Pioneer, CA, Melissa Brooks of Quincy, IL, Lawrence (Patty) Hageman of Winchester, MO, Chris (Mrs. Aaron) Paul of Kahoka, MO, Shelly (Mrs. Jeff) Flach of Quincy, IL, Curtis Hageman of Kahoka, MO, Dustin Hageman (Tara Alvis) of Wayland, MO, Teresa Hageman of Wayland, MO, Mark, John and Doug Brammer, all of Wayland, MO; 29 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carolyn Hornung; and a brother, Roscoe Fowler.

Leta attended Jenkins School in rural Clark County and worked hard for many years. She retired from the Keokuk Convalescent Center.

Leta was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed working in the garden and growing beautiful flowers. She loved raising canaries and cockatoos.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, MO with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating.
