Leland Ridgely, 59, of Kahoka, Missouri, passed away at his home at 5:49 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 8, 1965, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harry Bradley and Sharon Kay (Peterson) Ridgely. Leland was first united in marriage to Laura King, July 1986, and to this union, two daughters were born. On August 10, 2005, he married Diana Lyon Ridgely at the Peaksville Christian Church, officially joining their families. Years earlier, on August 12, 1997, Leland and Diana had already committed their lives to one another and to God in the Badlands of Sturgis, South Dakota—a day they always considered their true wedding date.

He was always up for a good time, often adding his own flair to special moments—and sometimes taking things a little too far. He loved to talk, had opinions for days, and gave advice freely. He enjoyed movies and was often heard singing along to his favorite songs.
In his younger years, Leland worked draglining with his dad, helped on the family farm treasuring time learning from his Grandpa Glenn Ridgely. He loved working on big trucks, riding four-wheelers, target shooting, and hunting. He was especially passionate about teaching his grandchildren gun safety and how to hunt and shoot.
Leland’s true calling was Kettle Korn. He loved traveling across the country with Diana and his girls, sharing his special treats and making memories. He also found fulfillment working for Stagger Construction in Dyersville, Iowa, where he built hwy 27 to Burlington and operated a bulldozer until his retirement in 2020.
Leland bravely battled COPD for many years, facing both good and hard days with courage. He loved his family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Diana Ridgely of Kahoka, MO; his mother, Sharon (Jim) Long of Albany, KY; daughters Misty (Andrew) Plenge of Montrose, IA, and Ashley Ridgely of Keokuk, IA; stepson Michael (Michelle) StClair of Alexandria, MO; stepdaughter Mitzie (Kevin) Pitford of Kahoka, MO; six grandchildren: Cole Leeper, Macie Cheney, Bradley Sturm, Ashley (Rollie) Mortimer, Mandy (Justin) Chance, and Cole (Shelby) Davis; seven great-grandchildren; his brother Cody (Brandi) Ridgely of Hannibal, MO; sister Julieann (Mike) Schofield of Emmett, ID; and many other relatives and friends.
