At retirement, he was carrying for both Kahoka and Revere. The next twelve years he spent as a car salesmen in the Keokuk area.

More important to L.D. than anything, was his relationship with his Lord, Jesus Christ. He had a love that illuminated through his personality that drew kids to him. He loved children, loved his friends, and loved his family.
