Josephine “Jo” Kay Cochenour, 74, of Lebanon, Missouri and formerly of Clark County, Missouri, passed away at 7:05 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Lebanon Nursing Home in Lebanon.
Jo was born on August 26, 1948, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of the late Wayne & Nelda (Lipper) Overhulser. She worked with Emerson/Copeland Manufacturing in Lebanon, Missouri for many years until her retirement in 2012.
She loved anything that had to do with Elvis Presley. Jo was a big fan and enjoyed visiting his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee on several occasions. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, Tony Stewart was her favorite driver. She also enjoyed many activities outdoors including horseback riding, trail riding and camping. Jo liked to attend the Mule Fest in Kahoka and the Country Stampede in Kansas. When her grandchildren were visiting over the Christmas holidays, Jo enjoyed making candy and cookies for them to enjoy. Family was very important to her; especially her grandchildren.
Jo is survived by two sons; Troy Cochenour of Kahoka, Missouri & Roy Cochenour of Farmington, Missouri, two daughters; Bobbi Jo (Tom) Collum of Montreal, Missouri & Leanna Matthews of Reno, Nevada. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including her caregiver; Nichole Edwards and by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jo was preceded in death by two brothers; David & John Overhulser and by a sister; Deloris Branson.
Funeral services honoring Jo’s life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka. Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate. Interment will follow at the Combs Cemetery in Luray. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
