Memphis formally Fairmont

John Wesley Redding, 70, of Memphis, Missouri formerly of Fairmont, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home with his family by his side

He was born November 18, 1954, in Carthage, Illinois to Robert Otis and Leola Maxine (Pruett) Redding. John was united in marriage to Linda (Webster) Redding on June 25, 1977, in Wyaconda, Missouri and she survives.

John was a lifelong resident of Fairmont, Missouri until recently moving to Memphis. He was a man of quiet strength, a loving family man and a loyal friend. John’s passion for hunting, especially deer, was a lifelong pursuit. His family and friends will always cherish the memories of early mornings in the deer stand, sharing stories and teaching the next generations.

Over the years, he touched the lives of many with his work as an auto shop owner and mechanic at Redding's Repair Shop, archery pro shop owner at Bear Creek Bow Works, as a rural mail carrier, his volunteer efforts with the NEMO Bow Club and the Fairmont Cemetery board, and his constant willingness to lend a hand to those in need. John found great joy in teaching archery to the younger generations and offering a word of encouragement to anyone who needed it. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he cherished the time spent with them.

John is survived by his wife Linda of 48 years; daughters Cindy (Jeremy) McDaniel of Memphis and Carrie Redding of Kansas City, Missouri; son Tom (Emily) Redding of Montrose, Iowa; five grandchildren Nicholas McDaniel, Jacob (Cammie) McDaniel, Aaron (Izabelle) McDaniel, Everett and Evelyn Redding; one great granddaughter Lorelei McDaniel, his brothers David Redding, Jerry (Julia) Redding, Sam (Teri) Redding, Tim (Kay) Redding, his sisters Kay Redding, Debbie (Pat) Malone, Becky (Harold) Moore, Elizabeth Redding, Martha (Randy) Ellefritz, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Danny (Sharon) Webster, Roger (Tammy) Webster, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
