Jeffery Soper

August 20, 1961 — January 24, 2023

Kahoka

Jeffery A. Soper, 61, of Kahoka, passed away at 9:18 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

He was born on August 20, 1961, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of the late Carl & Fern Lucille (Renner) Soper. Jeff married Robin Jenkins on August 24, 1985, in Alexandria and she survives.

Jeff was employed by Henniges Automotive for 35 years until he retired to “take it easy”. After his retirement, Jeff became a full-time mechanic, establishing Triple J Automotive. He also became a full-time driver to all his grandchildren, and he referred to this task as “Jeff’s Uber Service”. He lived his life to be the most devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jeff had a lifelong passion for anything that included a motor. For over 15 years, you could find Jeff at one of the local racetracks; running his 43 S hobby stock car.

Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman. To him, deer season was a holiday. Weeks were spent preparing for this. He loved to be able to hunt with his friends and children, but even more so with his grandson, Jace.

In the summertime you could find Jeff on the mighty Mississippi, running bank lines, trying to snag the biggest catfish or down at the sand bar hanging out with all of the other river rats. Jeff loved being able to share his love for the outdoors, especially if he could teach you a new life skill while telling you one or ten of his big stories. If you ever heard a story told by Jeff, you know what we are talking about. While Jeff had numerous amazing qualities, the best one he had was his ability to love unconditionally. No matter the situation or reasoning, if Jeff took you in, you had a lifelong friend who would go above and beyond for you, expecting or taking nothing in return. Above all, Jeff lived to be a loving and devoted husband, father and grandpa who will be missed by all who knew him. He will also be remembered for those amazing hugs he would give.

In addition to his wife of 37 years, Robin, Jeff is survived by a son; Joshua Soper of Kahoka, two daughters; Britny Soper of Kahoka and Misty (Tim) Ball of Luray. Honorary children; Gary Berry of Kahoka, Chase Soper of Anchorage, Alaska, Weston Schorr of Trenton, Iowa and Brandon Wright, St Louis, Eight grandchildren; Dawn, Jace, Natalee, Tober, Jacob, Novi, Rosie, and Bexley, two brothers; Jed (Kim) Soper of Alexandria, John Soper, Alexandria, three sisters; Evelyn Soper of Kahoka, Carla (Chris) Young of Wayland and Brenda Soper of Keokuk, Iowa, four brothers in-law; Richard (Kelli) Jenkins of Erie, Illinois, Robert (Neysa) Jenkins of Camdenton, Todd Rockelman of Alexandria and Randy Jenkins of Wayland, a sister in-law; Sherry Soper of Warsaw, Illinois, lifelong friends; Mike Hornung and Jimbo Andrews and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brothers; Jim Soper & Jerry Soper, his sister; Mary Soper, his father & mother in-law; Robert & Alice Jenkins and by his great nephew; Ross Rockelman.
