JANICE LEONE BARRY

Janice Leone Barry, age 77 of rural Kahoka, MO, died Monday, March 26, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Janice was born at home in Downing, MO, on June 18, 1940, the second of four daughters born to Floyd and Eithel Muir Presser.

She graduated from Kahoka High School and on September 21, 1957 was united in marriage to Donald R. Barry at the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO.

Survivors include two sons, Vaughn (Rita) Barry of Alexandria and Rex Barry of Kahoka; a daughter, Teresa Logsdon of LaGrange; daughter-in-law, Paula Barry of Avon, IN; eleven grandchildren: Jeremy (Robyn) Burkhart of Kahoka, Janice (James) Barnes of Alexandria, Rebecca (Brian) Welker of Wayland, Jim (Krystina) Logsdon of Canton, Misty (Kevin) Osbon of and Faye (Jacob) Pittman, all of Kahoka, Nate Logsdon, Zach (Brigetta) Logsdon and Kristina Logsdon, all of Canton; Kristal Savoia of Quincy, and Carson Barry of Morristown, TN; twenty great-grandchildren: Odie and Oakley Cook, Megan and Collin Young, Airizona and Adalyn Logsdon, Braxton and Easton Herren, Sawyer, Laria, Kamdyn and Rayden Logsdon, Brooklyn Jobe, Savannah, Leighton and Lucille Logsdon, Gavin Savoia, Christian Gillham, Aaron Barry, Michael Coresentino, and one on the way.

Additional survivors include her sisters, Joyce (Pastor DeWayne) Jackson, of Fulton, MO and Donna Smith of Wichita, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law: Margaret (Max) Byers of Macomb, Betty Logsdon of Kahoka, Dean (Jan) Barry of Columbia, Arthur (Marilyn) Barry of Titusville, FL, Nancy Barry of Canton, Floyd (April) Barry of Fernadina Beach, FL, Vernon (Carol) Barry of Davenport, Dorthea (Dean) Hunziker of Kahoka, Sharon Barry of Keokuk, Barbara (Wesley) Parrish of Kahoka, Connie (Gary) Watson of Fulton, and Patricia (Bob) Higgins of Broken Arrow, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donnie, on January 3, 2012; her parents and her in-laws, Harold and Marguerite Barry; a baby sister, Kay Carolyn Presser; seven brothers-in-law, David Harold Barry, A. C. Smith, Ronald J. Barry, John Barry, Tom Logsdon, Donald Lunt and Dewey Soper; also one nephew, Mike Barry; one sister-in-law, Carol (Dean) Barry; and son-in-law, Stanley Logsdon.

Janice was a long-time member of the Life Tabernacle Church in Canton, MO and her faith was very important to her. She loved to garden, care for animals and be with her family.

She was a Green Beret wife and the majority of the time raising their family was spent at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

As a career military wife, she kept her family together and ran the household while Donnie was deployed both in Korea and Vietnam.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Life Tabernacle Church in Canton, MO with Pastor Paul Kinney officiating.

Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to NEMO Hospice.
