HENRY HOEWING PLENGE

Henry Hoewing Plenge, 72, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home. Born February 9, 1941 in St. Louis, MO, he was a son of Harry L. and Violet Hoewing Plenge. He married S. Renee Kerr on January 20, 2013.

In addition to his wife, Renee, survivors include three children from his marriage to Linda Hunziker Plenge; his daughter, Nadine L. McKinzie (Steve) of Pleasant Hill, MO and his two sons, John H. Plenge (Laura) and David L. Plenge (Jill) both of rural Luray, MO; ten grandchildren, Garrett, Rachel and Ryan McKinzie; Natalie, Nicole, and Luke Plenge; Grant, Julie, Carter, and Irelyn Plenge; two stepchildren, Nick Cochenour and Kelsey Cochenour; one step grandchild, Maci Cochenour; one sister, Susanne (Dean) Webster; and one brother, Hal Plenge.

Henry graduated from Clark County High School in 1959. He attended Keokuk Community College and Kirksville State Teachers College. After attending college, he worked for the state highway department painting bridges until he decided that he wanted to be a farmer. From that point on, all of his energy and passion went into building the farming operation he so dearly enjoyed and took great pride in. For many years, Henry sold Crow's seed corn throughout northeast Missouri. Many of his dearest friends started out as customers. He enjoyed visiting with fellow farmers and traveling around the world with them on seed corn trips. Henry always loved a good adventure and never wanted to miss an opportunity to experience something new.

Throughout his life, he had many interests. While a young man, he held a pilot's license and flew his Cessna 182 to Alaska. As the years passed, he also enjoyed archery, tractor pulling, hunting, and attending farm shows with his family and friends. He was passionate about politics and always appreciated a good political discussion.

While he was confirmed at St. Paul Church of Christ and baptized at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, he cherished his church family at Luray United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hugh; and one infant sister, Helen Margaret.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Luray United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Lemons officiating. Burial wasin the St. Paul Cemetery.
