Haydelisa “Haydee” Meier, 83, of Kahoka, passed away peacefully at 8:45 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

 

She was born on September 22, 1939, in Guihulngan City, Philippines, the daughter of the late Aquilina Iguana & Fortunata (Bayawa) Balansag. She married Calvin Meier on November 12, 1980, in Canton, and he survives.

 

Haydee graduated high school from the Oriental Academy in Guihulngan City, Philippines and later attended Colegio University in Cebu City, Philippines attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She was a teacher at Hilaitan Elementary School for several years and later promoted to “Head Teacher”. Haydee enjoyed her time with students and teaching school. After Haydee’s mother passed away, she decided to come to the United States to be with her sister; Loresa Cameron. It was there that she met the love of her life; Calvin. She and Calvin enjoyed taking many trips throughout their lives together, including trips to; Pigeon Forge & the Smoky Mountains, the Pacific Coast, Yellowstone National Park, Alaska and Hawaii. Haydee loved the Lord and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kahoka.

 

In addition to her husband of 42 years, Calvin, Haydee is survived by two step sons; Bruce (Gail) Meier of Indianapolis, Indiana, Noel Meier of Kahoka, a step daughter; Judy Camp of Elvaston, Illinois, several grandchildren & great grandchildren, four sisters; Lilia(Florencio) Travero of Ormoc City, Philippines, Ledwina (Felipe) Ogabong of Dumaguete City, Philippines, Loresa Cameron of Kahoka & Thelma (Serafin) Young of Cebu City, Philippines and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Haydee was preceded in death by her brother; Romarieo Balansag, a brother in-law; Allen Cameron and by a sister in-law; Warlinda Balansag.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka. Father Rob Fields will preside. Interment will follow at the Kahoka City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. The Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions in memory of Haydee are suggested to St. Michael's Catholic Church or to the Clark County Food Pantry.
