Gladys E. Hunziker, 89, of Kahoka, MO., passed away peacefully June 27, 2022  at 10:55 AM at
Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.
She was born on May 12, 1933 in Keokuk, IA., the daughter of Joe and Ruth (Teller)
McMurray.
She was united in marriage December 14, 1952, to Earl Hunziker of Winchester,Mo, at the Wayland United Methodist Church. They had 4 children; 2 boys and 2
girls: Gary, Curtis, Debra and Joni.
Gladys was a wonderful wife and mother. She devoted herself to raising her children with a good work ethic and love of God. Gladys loved to help people and did an abundant amount of work with her local church and her community, helping provide meals to the less fortunate. She also did volunteer work at Keokuk Area Hospital. On the fun side, she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies for a number of years.
Once the children were grown, Gladys and her husband Earl spent their winters in Mission, TX, where they spent time together doing the things they most loved: dancing to the Big Bands, sightseeing, visiting with friends and playing golf.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Earl, on January 22, 2020; and her parents: Joseph and Ruth McMurray; brothers Roy and Jack McMurray, father-in-law, Glenn Hunziker, mother-in-law Ernestine Hunziker; brother-in-law Glenn
Hunziker, Jr, sisters-in-law: Lenora Hunziker, Nettie Bash, Wilma Boudreau,
Leona, (Tootie) Hunziker Roach, Beverly McMurray, Lenora Hunziker, and Sandra
McMurray: brothers-in-law Marshall Bash, Jr., Robert Boudreau, Roland Roach,
Dean Wood and Victor Anthony.
Gladys is survived by 2 sons: Gary (Liz) Hunziker of Plano, TX.; Curtis (Julie)
Hunziker of Canton, MO.; 2 daughters: Debra Hunziker of Quincy, IL., and Joni
(Chris) Roberson of Charleston SC.; 2 granddaughters: Melanie (Jonathan) Curlett
of Flower Mound, TX., and Coty Hunziker of Canton, MO.; 3 grandsons: Drew
Hunziker of Plano, TX., Logan Hunziker of Canton, MO., and Loren Roberson of
Phoenix, AZ.; 3 great granddaughters: Jocelyn and Caroline Curlett of Flower
Mound, TX., and Vivian Nguyen of Canton, MO.; a sister, Betty Anthony of Fort
Madison, IA, a sister-in-law: Pauline Wood of Mt Zion, IL; 3 brothers: Don
McMurray of Bossier City, LA., M. Carl McMurray of Hebron, KY., and Fred
McMurray of Keokuk, IA.; and other relatives.
In keeping with Gladys’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Kahoka Cemetery for family and close friends.  Officiating will be Pastor Shawn McAfee.
Memorials can be made to the Kahoka Cemetery.
Services are being handled by Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka, Missouri.
