GERALD FAY KEITH JONES

Gerald Fay Keith Jones, age 75, of Unionville, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 27,

2007, at the Putnam Co. Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO.

He was born July 27, 1931, in Green City, MO, a son of Pearl "Pop" and Wardie M. Bachman Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Orene Lunsford Jones, of Milan, MO; a son, Douglas Jones and his wife, Tracy, of Campobello, SC; a daughter, Debra Barker and her fiance, Al Ward, of Bonaparte, IA; a sister, Billie Hatfield, of Kahoka, MO; five grandchildren: Brandon Jones of Greenville, SC, Christopher Scott of Seattle, WA, Amber Barker of Ames, IA, and Brittany Barker and Jamie Barker both of Bonaparte, IA; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Juanita June Jones.

Keith was a graduate of Kahoka High School. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. At the time of his induction, he was a librarian in Kahoka.

He retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation and had worked previously for Coca Cola Distribution of Keokuk, IA.

Keith was a lifetime member of Memphis Masonic Lodge # 16, A.F. & A.M. He was a former Boy Scout and had been a leader in Kahoka and later at Memphis. Being involved in church was an important part of his life and even when his health deteriorated and it became necessary for him to move into the nursing home, he continued to lead Bible study there. In addition, he was an avid fisherman and musician. He had played country western music for most of his life and received a great deal of enjoyment from it.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Kahoka Cemetery. Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after noon on Friday. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. with a public Masonic service being conducted at 7 p.m.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to Boys Town of Nebraska or to the Masonic Home of St. Louis.
