GRACE CHRISTY
Geneva Grace Christy, age 89, of Revere, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
She was born July 24, 1915 near Luray, MO, a daughter of John and Minnie Norton Foster.
On March 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Victor N. Christy at New London, MO. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Christy, of Revere, MO; one grandson, V. J. Christy and his wife, Marisa, of LaPlata, MO; several nieces and nephews including Chuck Cline of Bettendorf, IA, Janice Sharar of Mediapolis, IA, Kenneth Cline of Montrose, IA, Foster Cline of Farmington, IA, Pam Christy of Farmingon, IA, Maureen Slaven of Saucier, Mississippi, Gerry Volpi of Santa Barbara, CA, Patricia Weston of Santa Barbara, CA, Dorothy Kirchner of Bloomington, IL, and Danny Christy of Perry, IA; as well as cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Victoria Mae in infancy and Dixie Kay; four brothers: John, Glen, Ray, and Leo Foster; and two sisters, Winnie Cline and June Foster.
Grace graduated from Luray High School and attended Kirksville State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Dumas prior to her marriage and also worked as a bookkeeper at Rowe's Garage in Keokuk. Following her marriage, she and Victor farmed near Revere and both drove school buses for the Revere School District.
She attended Revere Community Church and was active in the Revere Community Center's activities. She was a life-long Democrat and former Clark Co. Committee Member. She was also a former board member the Clark Co. American Cancer Society and a member of the Delphinium Garden Club. Grace loved to fish, garden, travel, and play cards with her friends. She loved all of her animals, and especially her cats who were babies.
Graveside services are Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Revere Cemetery with Pastor Steve Wilhelm officiating.
Family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka.
Memorials are suggested to the Revere Community Center.
