Gary Wendling

Gary Wendling, 79, of Kahoka Missouri passed away at 10:06 am, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 19, 1944, in Kirksville, Missouri the only child of Henry and Lois (Denham) Wendling. He was baptized and a member of the St. Paul UCC church. Gary graduated from Kahoka High School in May of 1962. He was first married to Ginger Stair to whom three children were born, Doug, Gina, and Jamie. On October 2, 1982, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Paula Adamson and with her two children, Dawn and Dani their family was complete.

Gary loved his family and friends, animals, and speed! He was always the first to arrive anywhere. His exotic animals and dogs were a source of great enjoyment. A proud committee member for the Clark County Mule Festival and regular Clark County fair attendee, he enjoyed camping with his friends each year. Many hours were spent racing horses, riding and racing motorcycles, boating, riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides, watching sports and following the activities of his family. He lived his life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Paula, of the home. Doug (Megan) Wendling, Gina Ramsey, Dawn (Darian) Uhlmeyer, Jamie (Laurie Gilliam) Wendling, and Dani (Marianne) Adamson. Grandchildren: Jordan (Melanie) Ramsey, Megan (Anthony Van Auken) Ramsey, Brett Uhlmeyer, Brianne (Brandon) Wielms, Madison Wendling, Dalen (Alyssa) Adamson, Tristen Uhlmeyer, Kayden Uhlmeyer, Colton Adamson. Great-Grandchildren: Lilian Murphy, Lincoln Van Auken, Hazley Wielms, Brooklyn Ramsey, Laurel Van Auken, Guinevere Wielms, and a baby Wielms in March.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lois Wendling, his mother and father-in-law Paul and Mary Alice Hale and his favorite dog Bruiser.

Funeral Services for Gary Wendling will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the St Paul United Church of Church of Kahoka. Rev. Dan Moore and Pastor Mark Wiewel will officiate. Interment will follow at the St Paul Cemetery, Kahoka, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, with family present from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in memory of Gary Wendling are suggested to Clark County Fair Horse Racing or Clark County Local Cancer Fund.
