FLOSSIE MAY LEACH

Flossie May Leach, age 94, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

She was born February 21, 1910 in Scotland Co., MO, a daughter of William and Effie

Jane Phillips Mattocks. Her mother passed away when Flossie was just two years and old and she was raised by her father and step mother, Flo Mattocks

On February 5, 1925 she was united in marriage to Floyd H. Leach in Kahoka.

He preceded her in death on May 20, 1971.

Survivors include a son, Delmer Leach and his wife, Gerry, of Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren: Mrs. Chris (Delma) Smith of Kahoka, MO, Mrs. Jeryl (Denise) Stone of Memphis, MO, Donn Treece and his wife, Korena, of Thornton, CO, Jeffrey Leach and his wife, Karen, of Social Circle, GA, William "Buddy" Leach and his wife, June, of St. Louis, MO, Newton Leach and his wife, Mary,of Evans, GA, and Kim Roybal of Yakima, WA; twenty great grandchildren: Sara, Shawn, Trisha and Jeffrey Leach, all of Social Circle, GA, Katie, Will and Samuel Leach of St. Louis, MO, Sarah Scott and her husband, Steve, of Evans, GA; Micah and Rachel Leach of Evans, GA Justin and Joel Roybal of Yakima, WA, Scott Yates and his wife, Lauren, of Howard Lake, MN, Toni Yates of Memphis, MO, Tabitha and Justin Bartels of Kahoka, MO, Kaitlyn and Donn (Jr.) Treece, of Thornton, CO, Jaime Smith of Champaign, IL and Ashley Smith of Pontoosuc, IL; three great-great grandchildren, Anna Scott of Evans, GA, Kendra Yates of Memphis, MO and Luke of Kahoka, MO; nephews including, Everett Boice and Billy Ray Mattocks; one niece, Sherry Ann Tibbs; as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step mother; her husband; one son, William Leach and his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Betty Lou Leach, and Donna M. Treece and her husband, Don; three brothers, Jimmie, Charles, and Thomas "Eddie" Mattocks; a step brother, Wallace Watson; two sisters, Ada Roberts and Jessie Bourgeois; and four grandchildren, Faith and Charity Adams, and Lewin Dee and Penny Leach.

Flossie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka and for many years had been in charge of the flowers decorating the sanctuary. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Kahoka Chapter # 40, O.E.S. She had spent many hours as a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Clark County.

An accomplished seamstress, Flossie had provided clothing and alterations for many people in the area. She loved growing flowers and collecting seeds and "starts" whenever she traveled and also from friends and family. African violets did especially well under her loving care. In later years, she had started collecting teddy bears. She also loved music and in earlier days she and Floyd had loved to dance and had even won dance competitions. Her main love was her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services are Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Gary Payne officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after noon Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home with public Eastern Star

Services being conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. followed by family receiving friends until 9 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Clark Co. Nursing Home.
