Ella Mae Dochterman

Ella Mae Dochterman was born on August 17, 1941 in backwoods Monticello, Missouri to Mildred Josephine Allen & Charles Dunlap Glisan. She was raised by her father Charles & grandparents, Tim & Nimmie Glisan.

On June 1, 1958, Ella Mae was united in marriage to Melvin Russell Dochterman. To that union, six children were born. Susan (Roy) Wade of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, John (special friend Kathy) Dochterman of Kahoka, Missouri, Jeff (Connie) Dochterman of Canton, Missouri, twin boys, Devin Dochterman and Kevin Dochterman of Williamstown, Missouri and Katherine (William) Carnes of Rockledge, Georgia.

Ella Mae attended nursing school at Southeastern Community College in Keokuk, Iowa, and after graduation she worked at St. Mary’s for a few years.  She then started at Stat Care Inc in Quincy, Illinois. For a time, she was the Director of Nursing at Lewis County Nursing home. Ella Mae started her time at Keokuk Area Hospital on August 8, 1988, and retired in 2004. Ella Mae also served as a board member at Clark County ambulance district.

Ella Mae loved being a mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an accomplished nurse who was devoted to her calling to serve others.
Being on the farm was Ella Mae’s joy. She and Melvin raised cattle, hogs, sheep, and grew crops. She shared her days with her beloved dog Ruby, and she enjoyed traveling.

Ella Mae loved God and had a very strong faith. Her family practically grew up at Providence Baptist Church outside of Williamstown, Missouri.  Ella Mae continued her devotion as an active member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka.

Ella Mae is survived by her devoted children, as well as her much loved grandchildren; Ryan (special friend Karen) Dochterman, Erica Durnil, Brandan (Verena) Wade, Lane (Tricia) Dochterman, Shaina (Erick) Arnold, Danielle (Lonnie) Waterman, Nicholas Dochterman, Juliana (Carmen) Wade-Ugaro, Matthew Dochterman, Nicole Dochterman, Emily Dochterman, Jessica Carter, Colton Carnes, Devin Carnes, Thomas Dochterman and Hailey (Jakob) Jones-Payne; Great grandchildren, McKenna Durnil, Braedan Wade, Landen Durnil, Wesley Dochterman, Wyatt Dochterman, Charlie Waterman, Raelynn Carter, Evelyn Arnold, Boone Dochterman, Easton Miller, Adilynn Carter, Florian Wade, Sawyer Arnold, Lettie Waterman, Grayson Carter, and Phasley Payne.

In addition to her beloved husband, Melvin, Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents; son Devin Dochterman, great granddaughter Adilynn Carter, brother William Dunlap Glisan, brother Archie Lee Glisan, brother James Robert Glisan, sister Barbara Ann Kirgan, and daughter-in-law Simone Nicki Dochterman.

There will be a funeral service for Ella Mae at 2:00pm, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Kahoka.  Pastor Cameron Neace will officiate.  Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery in Williamstown, Missouri.
 
A visitation will be taking place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka.
Memorials in Ella Mae's memory may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
