ELIZABETH PLENGE

Elizabeth Plenge, age 92, of Medill, MO, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.

Elizabeth was born September 11, 1920 at Ashton, MO, the daughter of Jesse and Bertha Ann Simpson Hayden.

She married August L. Plenge on November 18, 1937 in Memphis, MO. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1982.

Survivors include three sons, Gary (Patricia) Plenge of Kahoka, MO, Bobby Plenge of Luray, MO, and Darrell (Charlotte) Plenge of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren: Michael (Madonna) Plenge, and Marlena (Curtis) Mack all of Kahoka, MO, Gara (Mrs. Dan) Chapla of Fulton, MO, and Philip (Ashley) Plenge of Kahoka, MO; eight great-grandchildren: Bryan and Jorden Plenge, Devin Leffler, Camron and Conner Mack, Ivy Elizabeth and Luke Chapla and Braylen August Plenge; two nieces, Anna Lynn Kirkpatrick of Memphis, MO, and Jeannie Henner of St. Charles MO; a nephew, Robert Plenge of St. Charles, MO; and cousin, Cheryl L. Simpson of
Fort Madison, IA; as well as other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law, Linda Plenge; two sons, Karl E. and Franklin (in infancy); and a sister, Merle.

Elizabeth attended school in Medill and Kahoka. In earlier years she was employed by the former "Food Bar", "Gambles" and later at "Places", all in Kahoka. She loved children and also babysat.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka. She spent a lot of time making afghans for friends and family and sent them throughout the United States. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her cinnamon rolls with her fellow workers.
Elizabeth had a green thumb and kept beautiful African Violets. She had a sweet nature and always had a smile and a kind word for others.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Dixie Laube officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul Cemetery.
