Kahoka

Dorothy E. Thomson, 101, of Kahoka, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

She was born on August 17, 1919 in Clark County, the daughter of the late Carl and Catherine (Wells) Suter. She married Walter Thomson on November 24, 1937 in Palmyra and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1989.

Dorothy was an elementary school teacher for 37 years in the Clark County School District. Teaching was truly her calling in life and an evident passion, she had taught several generations of Clark County families. She had retired to the family farm homestead and later moved into town. Dorothy enjoyed reading the bible, crocheting, and word search puzzles. Dorothy was a woman of strong faith and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Often she spoke on how important it is to walk by faith. Before passing, she spoke about how happy she would be to rejoice with the Lord, her husband, and loved ones. She reminded us that although we would feel sorrow, she was leaving for a better place, to be happy for her and rejoice in her memory.

Dorothy is survived by her son; Larry (Sharon) Thomson of Williamstown, MO, one grandchild; Janet (Dan) Calandro of Indianapolis, IN. Four great grandchildren Andrew and Joe Calandro of Indianapolis, IN, Tyler (Alisha) Thomson of Montrose, IA, Whitney Thomson of Quincy, IL and three great-great grandchildren; Leevi, Aaron and Willow. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Catherine (Wells) Suter; her husband, Walter Thomson; grandson, Gary Thomson; brother, Julian Suter and sister, Carmolita Steele.

In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions were suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
