Doris A. Briscoe, age 61 of Williamstown, MO, died unexpectedly on Christmas morning, December 25, 2014, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

The daughter of Alva L. and Eva M. Hobb, she was born November 19, 1953 in Keokuk, IA and lived all of her life in northeast Missouri. She married Kirk Briscoe on October 12, 1979 in Canton, MO.

Survivors include her husband, Kirk, of Williamstown, MO; two daughters, Jennifer Briscoe of Kirksville, MO and Shannon (Mrs. Steve) Damm of Lake Saint Louis, MO; two cherished grandsons, Peter and Jacob; mother-in-law, Esther Briscoe of Williamstown, MO; one brother, Dennis Hobb of Washington, DC: two sisters, Darlene (Mrs. Ed) Nye of Luray, MO and Diane (Mrs. Paul) Tague of Gorin, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Ellison of Kahoka, MO, Charlie and Carol Briscoe of Canton, MO, Phillip and Connie Briscoe of Colleyville, TX, and Randall and Pam Briscoe of Williamstown, MO; aunts and uncles: Edith Templeton of Keokuk, IA, Twila Horter of Kahoka, MO, Helen Pearson of Kahoka, MO, Jim Stamper of Humeston, IA, Norman and Janice Briscoe of Williamstown, MO and Margaret Briscoe of Gladstone, IL; also many nieces and nephews and their families; cousins, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents - Alva in 1977 and Eva in 1991; as well as a brother, Dallas Hobb who died in 1975.

Doris graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1971 and from Culver Stockton College in Canton in 1991. She worked as the Assistant to Culver-Stockton's President for over two decades and was an avid supporter of the College and its' mission. She leaves many grieving colleagues and students there.

Doris and her family loved vacationing at Big Cedar Lodge in the Ozarks in southwest Missouri, and sampling wines from several of Missouri's vineyards. Her greatest joys, though, came from spending time with her grandsons, Peter and Jacob. They will greatly miss their "Mema".

Doris was always a caring person who saw to the welfare of others, always performed acts of kindness, and went out of her way to make everyone feel included and cared for. She was a Christian woman long before she became Catholic with her family in 1985.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, MO, with Culver Stockton College associates, Amanda Sorenson and Andy Walsh officiating.

Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after noon on Sunday with family receiving friends Sunday from 2-6 p.m.

The family requests memorials be made to Culver Stockton College.

Following services, cremation followed, with a Celebration of Doris' Life being conducted at a later date on the campus of Culver Stockton College.
