DeWayne Hamner

Delbert DeWayne Hamner, 72, of Wayland, Missouri, passed away at 11:18 am, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his home.

DeWayne was born on May 23, 1953, in Keokuk, Iowa to Delbert Hamner and Shirley Reeves Hamner Mitchell. DeWayne graduated from Clark County High School in 1971. DeWayne was a mechanic and worked for J. Burdman Auto Parts in Kahoka. Drag Racing was in DeWayne’s blood. He would work on his drag car throughout the week and race on the weekends bringing home the champion trophy several times. DeWayne was a huge marble collector and always looked forward to adding to his collection. DeWayne had a huge heart, always willing to help where needed with his friends, neighbors and family.

DeWayne is survived by his children: Troy (Carrie) Hamner of Kahoka, Missouri, Tara Hamner of Quincy, Illinois, Haley (Jason Edwards) Hamner of Lone Rock, Wisconsin and Tiffany (Thomas) Cooksey of Wayland, Missouri, a brother Karl (Rovene) Hamner of Kahoka, Missouri, a sister Debbie (Ted Morehouse) Otte of Kahoka, Missouri, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and can be left or mailed to Wilson & Triplett funeral home, 975 East Main St. Kahoka, Missouri 63445.
