DENNIS E. LIPPER

Dennis E. Lipper, age 58, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Kahoka, MO, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Dennis was born April 19, 1954 in Keokuk, IA, a son of Kenneth E. and Mary Evermon Lipper.

Survivors include his mother, Mary E. Lipper of Kahoka, MO; two brothers, Randy (Debbie) Lipper of Revere, MO and Carroll Lipper (Anita Justice) of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Becky Hopp (Ralph Andresen) of Memphis, MO; a step granddaughter, Becca Brakefield of Marshall, MO; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. Lipper; his grandparents; and a nephew, Brent Lipper.

Dennis graduated from Clark Co. R-1 High School in 1971 and later from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's of Science Degree. He was employed by the University of Missouri Hospital as a Unit Secretary, often working twelve hour days seeing to patient needs.

Despite being stricken by polio at the age of 6, Dennis spent the rest of his life determined to live as normal as possible. He liked to travel, collect coins, maintain the flower beds at his home, and keep his yard looking nice. He had various pets through the years whom he loved dearly, and was the only one of four children allowed to have any in the house. Times spent at cookouts with family camping in the Columbia area were particularly enjoyable to Dennis. He loved to visit, loved to fish and take in his nieces and nephews sports events when in town. He was also a huge MIZZOU fan. Anyone who knew Dennis will remember him for his strength, attitude and winning smile.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Rob Quillin officiating. Cremation followed with inurnment to be held at a later date in the Kahoka Cemetery.


Memorials in lieu of flowers were suggested to the family.
