Dennis was born December 15, 1944, at Bloomer, WI, the son of Ercel and Pearl Petersen Dustin.

He graduated from high school in Weyerhaeuser, WI and later married Evelyn Garrett on April 14, 1974 in Carthage, IL.

Dennis had been a dairy farmer prior to his marriage. After he and Evelyn were married he worked at Roquette in Keokuk and retired from there in 2001 to pursue another business that he and Evelyn owned. This business enabled them to travel three times to Hawaii and twice to Alaska. He loved the outdoors, growing things, mowing, walking in nature, visiting with neighbors, and hunting. He was able to take Kycen on his first hunting experience last fall. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Keokuk and was devoted to serving Christ. He had a servants heart and was concerned about helping others. His family was his pride and joy.

At his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 1-4 the Lodge at Camp Nauvoo, Nauvoo, IL. At 2:30 an informal service will be held. The family requests that you please join them. Snacks will be provided.
