DANNY MATHES

Danny R. Mathes, age 65, of Kahoka, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday March 7, 2019 in Kahoka.

He was born April 24, 1953 in Ft Madison, IA, a son of Raymond and Wanetta Hatfield Mathes.

Danny was united in marriage to Denise A. St. Clair on August 17, 1974 at the South Wyaconda Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Denise, of the home; mother-in-law, Virginia St. Clair of Kahoka; his children: Dennis (Jaclyn) Mathes of Marshall, MO and Danessa (Rudd) Binsbacher of Kahoka; four grandchildren, Kai and Sydnee Binsbacher and Wyatt and Weslyn Mathes; two brothers, Steven Mathes of Washington, DC and Bob Mathes of Wyaconda; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mark (Ann) St. Clair of Wyaconda, and RaElla (David) Wiggins of Memphis; nieces and nephews and their families: Caleb (Jaclyn) Wiggins of Memphis, Charles Wiggins of Bolivar and Conner Wiggins of Memphis; aunts: Leila Trueblood and Bonnie Hatfield, both of Memphis and Kim Hafield of Kahoka, Wilma Dee Hatfield of Springfield, MO, Joyce Mathes of Lamar, CO and Dorothy Mathes of Albuquerque, NM; several cousins; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ralph St. Clair.

Danny graduated from Wyaconda C-1 High School with the Class of 1971. He worked for Delta Airlines for two years in Chicago before returning home to farm. Danny worked in seed sales for Pioneer for seventeen years and the past eighteen years for Green Valley Seed in Kahoka. He loved to sell seed, drive a semi, and made many lasting friendships during this time.

Danny was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Wayland. He loved sharing the gospel and absolutely lived his faith. He was involved in jail ministry and in visiting local nursing homes. He never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus

Danny loved to farm, was a loyal St. Louis Cardinal Fan, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Danny enjoyed all sports, loved children, and will long be remembered as the "gum guy".

Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Wayland with Pastor Daniel Fox officiating.

Burial followed in the Wyaconda Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after noon on Sunday with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Wyaconda Cemetery or First Baptist Church of Wayland.
