CHARLES R. "CHICK" RHODES

Charles R. "Chick" Rhodes, age 69, of rural Canton, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at his home.

Chick was born November 18, 1949 in Aberdeen, SD, a son of Billie and Esther Hoffman Rhodes.

On May 26, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Logsdon.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; five daughters: Jamie (Brent) Edmondson of Kahoka; Jodi (Devin) Green of Cedar Hill, MO, Billie (Steve Ash) Lay of Kahoka, Paula DeBrackeleire, and Laura Rhodes; several grandchildren including: Tony (Whitney) Edmondson of Kahoka, Chelsea (Cody) Maples of Kahoka, Jordan (Cameron) Green, Kenzie (Logan) Green and Riley Green, all of Cedar Hill, MO, Lisa (Josh Burgess) Lay, Charles Lay and Roman Lay, all of Kahoka, and Samantha Soraghan of Chicago; several other grandchildren and several great grandchildren; "special kids" Michael "Opie" Dunn and Kyle Haeberlin; two brothers and one sister, Michael (Kris) Rhodes of Ogden, UT, Eugene (Kathy) Rhodes of Hannibal and Wanda Rhodes of Nebraska; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Henry Logsdon of Palm Bay, FL, Frances and Francis Rebo of Boliver, MO, Alice Jenkins of Osage Beach, MO, Frank and Frances Logsdon of TN, Ceil Abbott of Osage Beach, MO, Jody Edmondson of Chatham, IL, David and Debbie Logsdon of Kahoka, and Daniel Dyer of Coeur d’Alene, ID; as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; two brothers, David and Max Rhodes; a granddaughter, Tabitha Smith; and son-in-law, Brent Lipper.

Chick was a Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran. While in the reserves he was a member of the Governor’s Honors Rifle Team. He was also a life-time member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V. F. W. and also of the Clark Co. Mule Festival organization.

He was employed by Shellor Globe in Keokuk for 25 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, car races, and his horses. He looked forward each year to camping at the mule festival. More than anything, he enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids to hunt and fish.

Funeral services with military rites were held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial was in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Saturday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Cub Scout Pack # 145 and the Clark Co. Mule Festival.
