Carroll R. Boyd, age 73, of Kahoka, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

"Louise" McVeigh Boyd.

Survivors include his children: Jeffrey (Andrea) Boyd of Kahoka , Alicia Boyd of Eureka, CA and adopted son, Ray Boyd of Keokuk, IA; nine grandchildren: Robert Rogers, Christopher Boyd, Johnathon Keefe, and Amanda, Robert, Danielle, Bethany, Lana and Madison Boyd; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Boyd of Keokuk, IA and Carl (Donna) Boyd of Wheatland, MO; four sisters, Leona Elder of Kahoka, MO, Dorothy Boyd of Memphis, MO, Helen Dempsey of Keokuk, IA and Alma Finton of Warsaw, IL; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Freida L. and Lois J. Boyd; a daughter at birth, Crystal Gail Boyd; and granddaughter, Lacey Lynn Boyd.

Carroll graduated from Revere High School. He worked in maintenance at the Keokuk Mall for 16 years and retired from Armour Dial in Fort Madison. His favorite job was taking care of his farm and his cattle.

Carroll was a member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church in Wayland. He had a strong faith and enjoyed discussing scripture with Jeff. He was kind, tender hearted, and had a wisdom that came from his life experiences, knowledge, and ability to fix something as long as you gave him "time to study it." He was also a "music man", he loved old time country music and loved singing. He had a talent for hearing and identifying songs. He believed in working hard often saying "we’re burning daylight" or "if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right". He had a deep love for his family and grandkids. They were together almost every day and considered it a blessing to only live a mile apart on the family farm. They spent the last several years enjoying some traveling together in which Carroll couldn’t restrain from being Jeff’s back seat driver.
